2016 Season
As with every year, if you want changes please speak up.
Rules are made and passed based on majority of votes NOT majority of league members. So, if you are not happy with the process or results of the votes, start lobbying for your rule change submission and a seat on the Executive Committee.
Be part of the process and understand that just because you see it one way, does not mean that the rule will be accepted by the majority of the voters.
To add your name on/off Executive Committee ballot and submit your three nominations for the committee click here.

I submit that we change the EoS Tournament seeding. Since the tournament has nothing to do with the season, I would like for us to change the rule where the seeding is based on a random draw not season standings.

With a 21.8 handicap I agree.
By Roger, November 29, 2015 @ 9:31 pm
Agree with Rudy for the first round of the tournament. Second round run the same way as always based on scores of first round.

Anyone that is 65 and older needs to pick their Tees at the beging of the season and must play them all yaer. If your a 16 handicap and below you should be playing the reg Tees anyone above should play the Senior Tees. Its to help the Seniors that have a hard time reaching the greens in Regulation not those that hit the ball as long as the the ones playing the Reg Tees. (JUST SAYING)

Agree with Roger regarding EOS Tournament. So far as tees to play, I suggest that ANYONE can play from ANY set of tees they desire. Handicaps will be adjusted accordingly. Additionally, ANYONE can select the tees from which they will play at the course before the round. Having suggested this, EVERYONE should know how to calculate their course handicap. If you don’t know how to calculate it – LEARN!!!!!

Rules Suggestion: Members may not elect to have their names removed as possible committee members.

I also agree with Rudy.
I am also making a recommendation primarily for those of us (me) who are still working. I recommend keeping the tee times as they are published in the “Outing Sign Up”. Do not adjust the times forward for the sake of getting off 5 or 10 minutes early. That places us workers to be placed in the last group even if we where to get there 10 or 15 minutes prior to tee time. I myself gage my timing on the published time. I hate getting there and being automatically placed in the last group because of an adjusted tee time. I think pulling balls for groupings no more than 10 to 15 minutes prior to the published tee times is plenty of time to get the groups off. Most everyone knows I call someone who is playing and let them know I am in route. If I don’t think I can make it I just tell them to put me in the last group. Unless pushed by the Pro Shop to tee off early I say stay as published and pull balls no more the 10 or 15 minutes prior.
Okay I have vented.

I also agree with Rudy on the east tournament but I don’t think it needs to be voted on since it has nothing to do with the season. I don’t even want to get involved with seniors not being allowed to play from the Senior tees based on their handicap. Doesn’t matter how far Mike hits it, he qualifies per the current rules and we shouldn’t make exceptions to those rules by those who feel they are being cheated or cannot compete. Maybe if he wins 3 years in row I will then feel cheated too.

I have no problem with the suggestions for EOS tournament seeding as suggested by Rudy And Roger.
I see no reason to have to decide which tees I’m going to play from at the beginning of the season. I generally play the shorter tees however, that selection could change based on conditions, the number of strokes the tees me get cost me or the team I’m playing with.
Im not going to worry about how tee selection might give someone else an advantage.

I assume Walters is only in favor of this rule for another 5 years when he would be able to move up.
By Mike F, January 20, 2016 @ 8:07 am
3 changes proposed.
(1). Every player regardless of age can play any tees they want for a round.
(2). Par 3s. If you hit the ball in the hazard, you play the ball from where the ball crossed the hazard, use a drop area (if available), or hit again from your same tee. (elininates the red tee rule.
(3). Eliminate the maximum number of strikes rule. it is not that usual that we use it, but in general it benefits the high handicap golfers who could take a plus 6 score and still win low net, or slightly alter their league standing based upon this rule.

(1) Anyone can play any tee they want.
(2) Par 3s. if you hit it in the hazard, normal golf rules apply. Eliminate tee tee rule.
(3). Eliminate 6 over on a hole rule. it could impact low et and league standings slightly. Plus, itcwill make for better golf stories when Doug takes a 13.

Unbelievably, I agree with Mr. Fuller’s suggestions. When the time comes that a player simply cannot get over a large water hazard and simply gives up, he can enter a “10” on his scorecard (which will be adjusted for handicap calculations), continue to play – but will not be eligible for the low-net of the day. Unless he declares that he is not in the low-net portion of the daily $4 bet before the round, he will be expected to contribute as usual. While none of this will be in the league’s rules and regulations, there needs to be some understanding if and when this situation occurs.

I like the suggestions made by Mike F on Jan 20th, except for nos. 2 and 3 which I think we should leave as they currently are (everyone deserves a little mercy occasionally)

I have noticed that not all of my scores are adjusting like I think they should. For instance at Nanosecond River Monday I took a 6 on the par 3 2nd hole. Shouldn’t that have been adjusted? I think I also took a 7 or 8 on 17 which I think should be adjusted. Are the league rounds or all rounds adjusted? If I post a round that I play on the weekend should I adjust that before I submit it?
By Robert Coppock, February 8, 2016 @ 4:08 pm
Doug,
Here is how I adjust the scores. If your handicap is
9 or less you can’t take more than double bogey,
10-19 no more than 7
20-29 no more than 8
30-39 no more than 9
40 or more no more than 10
In your case the 6 on a par 3 counts because your handicap is 12.7, but I made a mistake on your 18 which should have been adjusted to a 7. I made the change.
If you post your scores(all 18 holes) I will make the adjustment, but if you just give a raw score by email i take what you say.
Thanks for letting me know, because sometimes I do not catch the adjustment.

Players should declare at start of season whether they choose to play from senior tees or not. The intent of moving to senior tees was to make it more “fair”. Making tees selection based on what gives you more strokes/advantage falls outside the “fair” window.
By Ron Williams, February 29, 2016 @ 7:14 am
Don’t agree with Rudy’s “reasoning” why players decide on senior tees or not. Senior tees at some courses can be quite short where the league designated tees can be quite long. Secondly, I may not want to be the only one in my foursome who plays a different set of tees as the others. While any rule can be manipulated, I don’t see the problem with choosing tees at the selected course.
By Rudy, March 5, 2016 @ 9:57 am
Hence, since any rule can be manipulated why not limit that option? Also, wasn’t shorter tees the reason for going to senior tees?
By Clark, March 8, 2016 @ 11:27 pm
Just thoughts;
Why change the traditional way pairings have been made for thirty years for the first round? Didn’t know that was broke. Don’t really care.
Tees, if handicaps do what they’re suppose to do, shouldn’t make much of a difference. As I see it, tees really come more into play in the cuts which have nothing to do with the league.
Par 3 rule, don’t care.
6 over rule, don’t care.
Good luck guys!
By Ron Williams, March 14, 2016 @ 10:08 am
Indeed, any rule can be manipulated, but I don’t see how selecting tees for the entire season falls in that scenario. Shorter tees and some courses are a lot shorter at some courses than others. Secondly, if I’m playing with a foursome and none are playing the shorter tees, I probably would elect to play along with the group. I just don’t understand the reasoning behind having to select tees for the entire season.

Would like to know how changing the day of the EOS Tournament got on the ballot. It was clearly stated that items for consideration for change were to be added to this blog for membership discussion. I see NOTHING regarding this subject. I don’t like having issues added without the opportunity to discuss and consider.
By Robert Hodges, May 29, 2016 @ 6:00 pm
The answer for selecting tee’s to play throughout the season is; The player can play longer tee’s if he likes. He just cant play any shorter tee’s
