2023 Season
League rules and new Executive Committee voting shall be completed within 30 days after the completion of End of Season Tournament – 28 October, 2022.
To have rules considered for voting they must have membership support. Posting a recommendation does not mean it will be put up for a vote if there is no support from other members.
Are you willing to serve on the Executive Committee? Vote here.

I have a thought on the EOS Tournament. The Exec committee has stated that it is near impossible to schedule a Tournament and dinner on a Friday and this has been going on for the last several years. My thought is to schedule the EOS Tournament for Wednesday and Thursday while keeping the handicaps the same for both rounds.

Our rules identify the Executive Committee as Handicap Committee. Recommend changing the name of the Committee to Executive Committee as well as identifying the roles and responsibilities of the Committee. Some input to duties:
The Executive Committee shall:
– Communicate with the League
– Collect season dues
– Identify requests for new League Rules from Blog submissions
– Put new League Rules up for voting
– Coordinate End of Season and End of Season Tournament Outings locations
– Submit requests for league members to host End of Season
– Distribute Winner funds

Request no rule changes during the regular season or tournament.
There are exceptions to this such as scheduling of EOS tournament based on availability but seems to be a constant request for a rule change or just not following the rules in general….

Commenting on Bob’s post. Scheduling the EOS final round on a Friday is tough if the committee waits until late in the season to try to book tee times. When I scheduled the first EOS final round at Sewell’s, I started communicating with them end of June, early July. I don’t believe that it’s as difficult as the current committee claims it to be, they just needed to be a little more proactive.

We established a league rules 2 years ago which states that if you are unwilling to serve on the Executive Committee unless you are in an exempt status, your league dues will be $30. This was enforced year one, but not year 2. I propose that we drop this rule.
We have a league rule that states new members pay a non-refundable $20 fee entering the league. I propose this too be dropped, as all we have been doing is have new members pay their annual league membership dues.
I don’t think we need a vote, but we should clean up the language in the rules about how league funds and tournament funds are totally separate. League dues do not pay for tournament prizes, closest to the pin awards, trophies, or other tournament expenses.

I think we should demand that of the half rounds needed to qualify for league Champion should include tough courses as well as easy courses. The opportunity will be given as to which of the two dates you want to play of each course and if not met at least on of each of the tough courses, you will not quality.

I agree with Rudy’s submission.

I propose a rule that before a vote on membership a player must play at least half a season as a guest, and any vote on membership be after the current season has ended, and before the next season begins.

I agree with Rudy and Mike’s comments/proposals. I also recommend that we accept Mike’s proposal made at the last day of the EOS. If I remember correctly, that proposal was that Mike, Rudy, and Bob serve as the Executive Committee rather than a new committee elected each year.

I would like to re-visit the numbering system for league champion. Whoever wins low net will get 10 points, 2nd place will get 9 points, 3rd place will get 8 points, etc. After 10th place anyone who showed up to play will get 1 point. Currently if a player records a round of a net 58 and plays the minimum rounds most likely will win. Doesn’t seem fair to me. This point system will allow players to catch the leader and will keep the competition very active. There will be no need to worry about players selecting which courses they would like to play. This league is supposed to be fun and competitive.

I agree with Rudy and Mike’s comments/proposals. I also agree with Doug’s comment of November 8 about having new members play at least have the rounds before membership.

Too late now, but this is in our rules: The league maximum handicap is 36. There is no maximum handicap. However, there IS a maximum handicap to compete in any competition (low net, front-back-overall). Should also address if handicap to be used is the calculated handicap or the course handicap. Some of us are getting close to that number. Maybe for next year.
